Southwestern Randolph has announced the date of induction for the first members of the school's Hall of Fame.
Fourteen student-athletes, coaches and administrators will be honored at the school on Friday, September 15 prior to the varsity football game against Albemarle and recognized at halftime of the game.

ER: The Wildcats rushed for 207 yards led by Carter Revelle's 70. Kobe Walker carried for 57 yards, Adonye Herbert 50 and Lucas Smith 30 yards.
Revelle was 11 for 13 passing for 185 yards with 5 catches and 90 yards to DaSean Shamburger and 4 catches and 42 yards to Nicah Taylor to lead the way.
AHS: Logan Laughlin completed 22 passes for 319 yards on 37 attempts. Elijah Woodle had 6 catches for 119 yards. Amare Godwin 6 catches for 109 yards and Aiden Richardson 7 receptions for 54 yards. Ben Luck had 2 catches for 22 yards and Kai Matthews 1 for 9 yards.

AHS: Logan Laughlin passed for 225 yards (16-24) with 3 touchdowns. Elijah Woodle had 3 catches for 145 yards and all 3 scores. Aiden Robinson had 4 catches (36 yards). Amare Godwin caught 3 passes (43 yards). Kai Matthews had 3 carries for 16 yards and a rushing touchdown.
The Blue Comets defense recorded 3 turnovers with a fumble recovered by Jaylon Moore, an interception by TJ Mark and the game winning interception by Matthews.

SWR: Jentezen Cox rushed for 199 yards on 18 carries with a touchdown. Nathan Ellis had 41 yards rushing with 2 touchdowns and a third touchdown receiving. Owen Whelan had 41 yards on 6 carries with a 2 point conversion. Colton Law rushed for 35 yards with 20 receiving.
Noah Stills completed 5 passes for 46 yards with a touchdown and a 2 point conversion pass to Law.

RHS: The Tigers got a defensive score from Thomas Dobias who returned an interception for a touchdown. Had a 2 yard rushing touchdown and John Kirkpatrick connected with receiver Tyshaun Goldston for a 39 yard touchdown pass.
In addition to Dobias, Goldston, Chase Farlow and Micah Thurston recorded interception.

ER: The Wildcats had 356 yards passing and rushed for 57 yds. Carter Revelle completed 17 passes with 2 interceptions, a rushing touchdown and a passing touchdown to Donnell Watson.. Nicah Taylor had 11 catches for 167 yards, Watson had receiving 67 yards.

WHS: Johnathan Kelly had 16 carries for 91 yards and 3 touchdowns. Trey Swaney carried 5 times for 58 yards. Riley Strickland completed 16 of 24 passes for 188 yards. Swaney caught 9 passes for 127 yards, Sa'Cory Maryland had 4 receptions for 47 yards and Danny Craig 3 for 19 yards.
Noah Browning and Max Smith each had a sack. Clay Hill recovered a fumble.

With the completion of the 2023 American Legion Southeast Regional, there is one week before fall sports begin for public high school teams in Asheboro and Randolph County.
Competition can begin Monday in volleyball, men's soccer, women's tennis, cross country and women's golf.
Football is scheduled to begin on Friday, August 18.

Florence, SC Post 1 defeated Fuquay-Varina, NC Post 116 for the Southeast Regional Championship and a spot in the 2023 American Legion World Series in Shelby.
After outlasting Randolph County in an 11 inning marathon Saturday night, the South Carolina champions led from the first inning of Sunday's title game against the North Carolina champions from Fuquay-Varina to win Florence's second regional title and ALWS appearance.
Josh Williams of SC Post 1 was named the Tournament MVP.
Florence will play in the final game of day 1 against the champion of the Central Plains Region at 7:30 Thursday at Keeter Stadium in Shelby.

The 2023 American Legion Southeast Regional Tournament begins Wednesday at McCrary Park. Teams will arrive in Asheboro this afternoon with a Welcome and Orientation Session scheduled for players and coaches.
The game schedule calls for four games Wednesday and Thursday, three games Friday, two on Saturday and championship Sunday will feature one or two games.
