December 31, 2019 HOLIDAY BASKETBALL

The 29th Annual Courier-Tribune Christmas Invitational boys tournament concluded Monday night with Randleman defeating Southwestern Randolph 64-42 for the Tiger's fourth tournament title.

Wheatmore defeated Providence Grove for third place in this year's tournament with Asheboro taking fifth place over Trinity and Eastern Randolph defeating Jordan-Matthews in the seventh place game.

December 24, 2019 HOLIDAY BASKETBALL

The 29th Annual Courier-Tribune Christmas Invitational girls tournament concluded Monday night with Southwestern Randolph defeating Randleman 60-46 for the Cougar's third consecutive tournament title and seventh overall.

A new individual scoring record was set during this year's CTCI when Trinity's Autumn Gentry totalled 89 points in her three games played. The previous record was 86 points by Taylor Walker of Wheatmore during the 2012 tournament.

In the Trinity-Eastern Randolph game on Saturday, Gentry scored 36 points which is the second highest single game total in the 29 years of play, and Eastern Randolph's Brecken Snotherly scored 35 points which is now the third highest single game total.

Asheboro defeated Providence Grove for third place in this year's tournament with Wheatmore taking fifth place over Eastern Randolph and Jordan-Matthews defeating Trinity in the seventh place game.

The 29th annual event will continue after Christmas with boys action beginning on Friday, December 27th at Asheboro High School.

Jaquan Snipes, a senior at Randleman High School, has signed his National Letter of Intent to continue his education and football career at Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia.

A three-time All-Piedmont Conference selection, Jaquan was the conference Offensive Player of the Year his junior season and accumulated 4617 yards of offense (3722 rushing, 895 receiving) along with 68 total touchdowns during his high school career.

The Hampton Pirates compete in the Big South Conference.
