July 20, 2019 AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL

Eight teams have qualified for the 2019 State Championship Tournament which begins this Friday in Cherryville. Not all of the seeds have been determined but joining the host team and Area IV Champion Cherryville Post 100 will be the Gaston Braves Posts 144/266 and a third team from Area IV, Union County Post 535.

Area IV gets three representatives this year because Cherryville volunteered to host the 2019 tournament when no team from Area II was willing to do so. That leaves Area II with only one team in the event, defending State Champion Wilmington Post 10.

Randolph County Post 45 and Davidson County Post 8 will represent Area III. Those teams will play for the Area Championship at McCrary Park Sunday night at 7 o'clock. The winner of that game will be seeded as the Area III #1 in the state tournament and the loser will get the #2 seed.

The same thing will happen in Area I between Kinston Post 43 and Fuquay-Varina Post 116 Nationals. Both of those teams will be in the state tournament but first they will determine the Area I Championship Monday night at Campbell University.
