January 30, 2019 – Skyler Swaney, a senior at Wheatmore High School, has signed her National Letter of Intent to continue her education and softball career at Ferrum College in Ferrum, Virginia.
Swaney is an All-PAC 7 performer with a .452 career batting average and will soon begin her fourth season on the Warrior's varsity roster.
The Ferrum Panthers compete in the Old Dominion Athletic Conference.

January 29, 2019 – NCHSAA WEATHER ANNOUNCEMENT
CHAPEL HILL – The expected wintry weather moving into the state has forced the postponement of several NCHSAA Playoff and special events. The First & Second Round matches of the Dual-Team Wrestling Championships at many sites have been impacted as well the scheduled introduction and press conference for the 2019 Class of the NCHSAA Hall of Fame.
Dual-Team Wrestling sites postponed by weather are expected to be contested on Wednesday. Media and spectators are encouraged to check with the host school or their local participating school prior to travelling to the site of any of these scheduled contests for today or tomorrow.

January 28, 2019 – SWIMMING
Seven Randolph County swimmers qualified for 12 events in the 2019 Swimming and Diving Regionals. In addition, a total of 15 relay teams qualified for events which will be held Friday for the 2A teams, and Saturday for 3A swimming.

January 28, 2019 – WRESTLING
Asheboro, Trinity, Wheatmore and Uwharrie Charter Academy have qualified for the 2019 playoffs in Dual Team Wrestling which begin tomorrow night.
The Blue Comets, second place finishers in the Mid-Piedmont 3A Conference, will face Southwest Guilford in the first round at Brown High School in Kannapolis. Also in that section of the 3A bracket are Weddington and the host team A L Brown. Winners of those two matches will then meet in round two.
Trinity and Wheatmore finished 1–2 in the Piedmont Athletic 2A Conference. The Bulldogs will be hosting first and second round matches Tuesday as they face Cummings while Central Davidson takes on St Pauls High School. The winners of those matches will wrestle in the second round later Tuesday evening.
Wheatmore will face the host team in round one when they travel to Ledford on Tuesday. The winner of that match will then face the winner of Reidsville and West Davidson in round two.
Yadkin Valley 1A Conference Champion Uwharrie Charter will host the first round match between North Rowan and Voyager Academy Tuesday night. The Eagles earned a first round bye and will face the winner of that match in the second round.

January 27, 2019 – SWIMMING & DIVING PLAYOFFS
The 2019 Regional Tournaments for swimming and diving are this week with Randolph County members of the Piedmont Athletic Conference swimming Friday in combination 1A-2A meets and qualifying Asheboro swimmers competing in the 3A Central Regional this Saturday at the Greensboro Aquatic Center.
The GAC will also be the location for Friday's 1A/2A Central Regional where qualifying swimmers from Providence Grove, Randleman, Trinity and Wheatmore will compete.
Eastern Randolph (and PAC 7 member Jordan-Matthews) swimmers who qualify for regional competition will participate in Friday's 1A/2A East Regional at the Triangle Aquatic Center in Cary.
Triangle Aquatic Center is also the host site for the 2019 State Championships. 4A Champions will be crowned on Thursday, February 7, the 3A titles determined on Friday, February 8 and the 1A/2A championship events on Saturday, February 9.
January 27, 2019 – WRESTLING PLAYOFFS
With three weeks remaining in high school basketball regular seasons, the post-season arrives this week in wrestling and swimming.
Wrestling team brackets are expected to be released on Monday by the NCHSAA. Dual Team rounds 1 and 2 will be wrestled at various locations Tuesday with winners advancing to the third, and potentially fourth, round this Thursday.
The State Championships in Dual Team wrestling are this Saturday, February 2nd at The Greensboro Coliseum Fieldhouse. Two champions will be decided in the noon session and two others determined during Saturday's second session which starts at 3 PM. The schedule for the team championships will be announced after the eight participating teams have been determined.
Individual wrestling post-season begins next week on Friday, February 8th with the individual championships determined February 14-16th.
The NCHSAA will also hold a post-season individual tournament for female wrestlers. The one day event will take place this Saturday, February 2nd, at the Winston-Salem Fairgrounds Annex. Wrestling will begin at 12 noon.

The Courier-Tribune is reporting that Southwestern Randolph volleyball coach Darby Kennedy has resigned that position in order to spend more time with her family.
The Cougars have averaged more than 19 wins per season in Kennedy's six years leading the team.

January 15, 2019 – Southwestern Randolph's Wes Koehler has signed a National Letter of Intent to attend Limestone College in Gaffney, SC and continue his tennis career.
Koehler has been recognized as a Mid-Piedmont All-Conference player each of his first three seasons and was the 2018 Conference Player of the Year.
The Limestone Saints are members of the NCAA Division II Conference Carolinas.
