Brody Little and Peyton Williams homered and Little, Dylan Hunt and Nick Soles all recorded doubles for Trinity. Lincoln Coble gave up 2 hits and struck out 4 batters in three innings for the win.

Andrew Thomas hit a double and a triple and scored a run. Colin Duval had 2 hits with a triple and a run scored. Will Dabbs and Chase Collins also had 2 hits with a double each. Caden Waugh had a hit, an rbi and 1 run scored.

Trevor Kirkman pitched five innings and got the win allowing 2 runs on 4 hits and 5 walks with 8 strikeouts.

SW Randolph 6, Randleman 2

Logan Weidman pitched 4.2 innings and got the win allowing 1 run on 2 hits and 5 walks with 7 strikeouts. Lane Poole worked 2.1 innings with 1 unearned run on 3 hits and 3 walks with 1 strikeout.

Lucas Connor had 3 hits with a double and a run scored. Carson Coltrane also had 3 hits and drove in 2 runs. The Cougars got 2 hits each from Carson Williams (rbi, run) and Brady Armfield (3 rbi). There were single hits by Weidman (run), Grant Kirk and Matthew Blankenship (run).

The North Carolina High School Athletic Association has honored several student-athletes including two from Randolph County.

Hunter got the complete game win allowing 4 runs (1 er) on 6 hits and 2 walks with 10 strikeouts.

Reid Sudduth went 3-for-3 for Asheboro driving in 2 runs. Nolan Shaw had 2 hits with a double and an rbi. Gavin Allen had 1 hit and scored twice.

Bailey Cain had an rbi and a single, Callie Lambert (double, rbi, run), Carly Lambert (3 runs) and Campbell Ziemba (rbi) all had a hit each.

Ziemba gave up 4 hits in the five-inning shutout with 1 walk and 7 strikeouts.

Addie Beck took the loss with Wildcat hits by Vivian Underwood, Hailey Ritter, Shelby Williams and Kaydence Swaney.

Addyson Dees (2 runs), Phillips (home run, double, 4 rbi, 1 runs), Lyric Chriscoe and Elsie Prince (2 runs) had 2 hits each. Single hits by Ivey (home run, rbi, run), Ella Rogers (rbi, run)and Teanna Bostick (2 rbi, run).

Dees was the winning pitcher with 4 runs on 5 hits and 4 walks while striking out 2 batters in four innings. Rogers worked three innings giving up 1 unearned run on 4 hits and 2 walks with 4 strikeouts.

Wheatmore led from the first inning but Gray Stone tied the game in the sixth and walked off in the bottom of the seventh.

There were 2 hits each by Makenna Lawrence (double, 2 runs), Kyndal Kindley (double, 2 rbi, run), Raylan Barber and Lylah Gower (double, rbi, run). Single hits by Skylar Pittman (rbi) and Emma Gower (run).

A 10-run fifth inning propelled the Cougars to the home win.

Lucas Connor had 3 hits with a double, rbi and a run scored. There were 2 hits each by Brady Armfield (double, rbi, 3 runs), Carson Coltrane (triple, 3 rbi, run), Elijah Sykes (double, 3 rbi, 2 runs); Logan Weidman (triple, rbi, 3 runs) and Lane Poole (double, rbi, run). Single hits by Carson Williams (2 runs), Grant Kirk (2 rbi, run) and Matthew Blankenship (rbi).

Blankenship got the win in relief of Sykes.

Trinity 5, Providence Grove 0

Starting pitcher Peyton Williams struck out 12 batters and Walker Parrish went 3-for-3 at the plate with a double, an rbi and 2 runs scored to lead the Bulldogs.

Williams worked six innings (3 hits, 2 walks, 12 strikeouts) before giving way to Grayson Fauber who walked 2 batters but preserved the shutout with 3 strikeouts.

There were 2 hits each by Brody Little (double, rbi) and Nick Soles (run).

Trailing 8-5, Eastern plated 8 runs in the top of the seventh inning and held on for the win.

Five Wildcats had 2 hits each with Maddox Dunn leading with 4 runs batted in and Cade McCallum scoring 3 times. McCallum and Dunn both had doubles and shared time on the mound with Dunn earning the win in 1.1 innings of relief (1 run, 3 hits, 3 strikeouts).

Landon Albright, Isaiah Batchelor and Carlos Cordero had 2 hits each. Miles Cox and Bryson Marley each hit singles.

Amanda Crabtree hit a 3-run home run in the fourth inning to get Eastern to within a run at 6-5 and her sixth inning grand slam produced what turned out to be the winning runs for the Wildcats. For the game, Crabtree had 3 hits, scored 3 runs and drove in 8 runs.

There were 2 hits each by Adie Beck (run), Hailey Ritter (run), Shelby Williams (double, rbi, run) and Brroklyn Jones (2 rbi, 2 runs). Vivian Underwood had a double, 2 rbi and a run scored.

Beck pitched the complete game win.

The Warriors got single hits by Gavin McPherson (run), Nathan Oxendine and Shannon McCauley (rbi). Greyson Atkinson started on the mound and took the loss giving up 5 runs (3 er) on 6 hits and a walk in 3.1 innings.

The Blue Comets started hot when Kayla Basulto walked to lead off the bottom of the first inning. She scored on an rbi double by Kyndall Snipes then Snipes scored on Cora Little's 2-run homer. After one inning Asheboro was leading 7-0.

Snipes had 2 hits in the game with 3 rbi and 2 runs scored. In addition to Little's home run, Mykala Cook (rbi) and Madison Hicks (2 rbi, 2 runs) also had hits. Claire Younts and MJ Cass both scored 3 runs.

Cook was the winning pitcher giving up 2 unearned runs on 2 hits amd 1 walk with 5 strikeouts in three innings.

The Patriots' hot hitting continued as they pounded out 13 hits with 6 good for extra-bases. Emma Mazzarone (PG '23) has been named the ACC Softball Pitcher of the Week for her effort in helping Virginia Tech defeat NC State 10-0 on Friday (CG (5 inn),2 hits, 1 walk, 8 strikeouts) and 2-1 on Sunday (6 IP, 1 (unearned) run, 2 hits, 3 walks, 9 strikeouts).

For the season, Mazzarone has a 7-1 record for the Hokies.

The Cougars scored 23 runs on 23 hits led by Carson Coltrane's 6-for-6 performance at the plate.

Brady Armfield had 4 hits with a double and 2 triples producing 5 rbi and 4 runs scored. Coltrane had 2 doubles, drove in 6 runs and scored twice. Elijah Sykes had 4 hits with a double, 2 rbi and 2 runs.

There were 3 hits by Lucas Connor (triple, 2 rbi, 2 runs) and 2 hits each by Carson Williams (3 rbi, 4 runs) and Matthew Blankenship (2 doubles, 4 rbi, 1 run). Single hits by Lane Poole (double, 3 runs) and Logan Weidman (double, rbi).

Weidman struck out 8 batters in four innings and got the win,

Southeast Guilford 4, Asheboro 3

Asheboro led 3-2 but Southeast plated 2 runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.

Daniel Jaimes hit a solo home run and the Blue Comets got doubles from Reid Suddusth and Shane Immel. Immel and Jaimes (rbi, 2 runs) had 2 hits each. Nolan Shaw and Sudduth had a hit each.

Price Kidd pitched 5.1 innings (2 unearned runs, 4 hits, 4 walks, 6 strikeouts). Daniel Jaimes gave up 2 unearned runs on 3 hits and 2 walks with 1 strikeout.

Uwharrie Charter 6, Eastern Randolph 1

Jake Hunter had 3 hits and Jaxon Mabe singled and doubled with 3 runs driven in for the Eagles.Levi Mitchell and Wilson Boswell had 2 hits each and both scored a run. Single hits by Ty McAualey, Keaton Hill (run), Rusty Wheless (2 runs) and Jason Smith (rbi)

Hunter gave up 2 hits and 2 walks in the complete game win with 13 strikeouts.

Wildcat hits were by Cade McCallum and Avery Wright. Bryson Marley worked four innings and took the loss.

Nine Bulldogs had hits and 8 players scored in the win.

Indiana Hill went 3-for-3 driving in 2 runs and scoring one. Walker Parrish (rbi, 2 runs) and Peyton Williams (rbi, 2 runs) had 2 hits each. Lincoln Coble (5 IP, 2 unearned runs, 2 hits, 4 walks, 8 strikeouts) was the winning pitcher. Grayson Fauber walked 1 and struck out 1 in two relief innings.

Patriot hits came from Colin Duval (double, 2 rbi) and Jacob Flinchum (run). Trevor Kirkman pitched 3.1 innings and took the loss giving up 5 runs (4 er) on 7 hits and 4 walks with 4 strikeouts.

Kyle Dillow had 2 hits including a 2-run home run and Jake Riddle went 3-for-3 with an rbi and 3 runs scored for the Tigers. John Kirkpatrick was a;so 3-for-3 with a double and 2 runs scored. There were also doubles by Jackson Hill (2 rbi, 3 runs) and Lincoln Lawson (2 rbi, run). Carter Heath singled with an rbi and a run scored.

Riddle pitched four innings and was the winning pitcher giving up 2 hits with 4 strikeouts. Ashton Poe struck out 2 batters in an inning pf relief.

East Davidson 4, Wheatmore 3

The Warriors got 2 hits each from Lukas Usterbowski (2 runs), Greyson Atkinson (rbi, run) and Hunter Goddard (double, 2 rbi).

Gavin McPherson pitched 4.1 innings and took the loss with 4 unearned runs on 3 hits and 4 walks with 8 strikeouts. Christian Tuttle allowed 1 hit with 1 strikeout in 1.2 innings of relief.

Eastern Guilford 33, Asheboro 23

Asheboro recorded 12 hits including 2 home runs by Cora Little and 2 doubles by Shelle Culler.

Little was 4-for-6 at the plate with a 2-run homer in the first and a grand slam in the bottom of the sixth inning. She finished with 8 rbi and 3 runs scored. Culler went 3-for-4 and scored 3 runs.

Claire Younts had 2 hits, 3 rbi and 3 scored runs. There were single hits by Kloe Woody (2 rbi, 2 runs), Kyndall Snipes (3 rbi, 3 runs) and Kayla Basulto (2 runs).

Eastern Guilford's Erin Bell hit 5 doubles (5-for-6, 7 rbi) which tied the NCHSAA record for most doubles in a game (Jennifer Antal, Alexander Central, 2001).

Emory Johnson had 3 hits with a double, triple, 5 runs batted in and 2 runs scored. Jayla Hurley had 2 hits and scored twice. Single hits by Aly Hussey (rbi, 2 runs), Tori Dixon (2 runs) and Meghan Peters (run).

Paityn Williams gave up 4 hits and 2 walks against 7 strikeouts in the complete game win.

London Hardin had 2 Wildcat hits. Adie Beck and Vivian Underwood had 1 hit apiece.

East Davidson 4, Providence Grove 3

Addie Johnson (double, rbi, run), Cailyn York (double, rbi, run) and Lara Wiseman (rbi) had 2 hits each for the Patriots. Liz Shoe (run), Callie Lambert and Carly Lambert had a hit each.

Campbell Ziemba had 12 strikeouts in the complete game loss allowing 4 runs (2 er) on 6 hits and 1 walk.

Alyana Hunt gave up 1 hit while striking out 6 in the three-inning win.

Ella Rogers (3 rbi, 2 runs) homered, Lyric Chrisco (2 hits, 4 rbi, 3 runs) tripled and the Tigers got doubles from Hunt (2 runs scored) and Ayla Jordan (3 hits, 2 rbi, 2 runs). Makayla Striblin (2 rbi, 2 runs), Izzy Kirkpatrick (run) and Natalie Roach (rbi, 2 runs) also had hits.

Alyssa Harris and Katelyn West combined to throw a no hitter for the Cougars. Harris pitched four innings (7 strikeouts) and West pitched the fifth (2 strikeouts).

Nauttica Parrish had 3 hits and 3 rbi with a triple and a home run. Harris had 3 hits and 3 rbi with a double and triple and 4 runs scored. Maddie Strider (4 rbi) and Bristol Marine (2 rbi, 5 runs) had 3 hits each. There were 2 hits each by Katelyn West (double, 3 rbi) and Jada Freeland (double and 2 rbi). Kami Dunn had a triple, 3 rbi, 3 walks and scored 3 runs.

McKinley Butcher hit 2 batters but was otherwise perfect in the run-rule win. Butcher faced 11 batters in three innings and recorded 8 strikeouts.

Abigail Rebert had 2 hits for Trinity driving in 3 runs and scoring twice. Carlie Roberts drove in 2 runs and scored 3 runs. Butcher (rbi, 2 runs) and Jessica Ann Huneycutt also had hits.

Tied 3-3 in the bottom of the seventh, a triple by Keaton Hill and a 2-out rbi hit by Will Myers provided the Eagles with a walk-off win.

Myers' rbi single was his only hit in the game, Hill had 2 hits and scored twice. Levi Mitchell and Jake Hunter both provided 2 hits.

 BASEBALL

Uwharrie Charter 11, North Moore 0

Jaxon Mabe had 3 hits with a double, an rbi and 2 runs scored for the Eagles. There were 2 hits each by Wilson Boswell (double, 4 rbi, 2 runs) and Keaton Hill.

Hill gave up 2 hits and 2 walks with 6 strikeouts in five innings for the win. Mabe struck out 3 batters in the final two innings.

Trinity 11, East Davidson 0

Peyton Williams allowed 3 hits and 3 walks in the complete game shutout. Williams struck out four.

Brody Little doubled and homered and the Bulldogs got more doubles from Williams (2), Cohen Wolfe (2), Cameron Hill and Indiana Hill to account for most of their 12 hits.

Northern Guilford 7, Asheboro 0

Asheboro got 2 hits from Nolan Shaw and another by Grayson Norman. Gavin Allen took the loss on the mound.

Randleman 24, Lexington 0

Kyle Dillow (W, 1 IP, 1 walk, 1 strikeout) and Easton Campbell (2 IP, 5 strikeouts) made it tough for the Yellowjackets to get anything going offensively while the Tigers recorded 11 hits in two offensive innings.

The Warriors led from the first inning but put the game away with six runs in the top of the seventh.

Greyson Atkinson pitched the complete game win giving up 3 runs (2 er) on 5 hits and 4 walks while striking out 4 batters.

Bentley Mills and Christian Tuttle (2 rbi, run) had the only 2 hits as Wheatmore took advantage of 13 walks and 10 stolen bases.

Providence Grove 7, West Davidson 6

Andrew Thomas had 2 hits with a double, 2 rbi and 2 runs scored and Grant Underwood delivered a home run, 3 rbi and 1 run. Conner Haithcock had a double, rbi and scored a run.

Colin Duval pitched one inning of relief and got the win as the Patriots tied the game in the bottom of the sixth and won it in the seventh.

Eastern Randolph 9, SW Randolph 4

The Wildcats scored 6 runs in the sixth inning to break open a close game.

Bryson Marley had 3 hits, driving in 2 and scoring 2 runs. Isaiah Batchelor had 2 hits with a double and 2 rbi. Landon Albright also had 2 hits and 2 runs driven in.

Cade McCallum was the winning pitcher working 5.1 innings and giving up 2 runs. Albright and Maddox Dunn finished the final innings.

Southwestern Randolph had 12 hits including a home run and a double by Brady Armfield. Grant Kirk hit a triple and Lucas Connor and Elijah Sykes both had 2 hits. Sykes pitched four innings and took the loss.

Kami Dunn and West tripled for the Cougars with Dunn, Alyssa Harris and Nauttica Parrish collecting 2 hits each.

Vivian Underwood, Brooklyn Jones and Shelby Williams had hits for the Wildcats. Adie Beck and London Hardin shared time in the circle.

Providence Grove 16, Trinity 0

The Patriots had 10 hits, led by Lara Wiseman who went 3-for-3 with a double, 5 rbi and 3 runs scored. Addie Johnson (3 rbi, run), Callie Lambert (2 hits, 2 rbi, 3 runs) and Campbell Ziemba (2 hits, 4 rbi, run) also doubled.

Ziemba was the winning pitcher. She and Wiseman combined on the run-rule-shortened perfect game.

Uwharrie Charter 20, North Moore 6

The Eagles belted 6 extra-base hits among the 17 recorded to pound their way to the win.

Paityn Williams had a triple and scored 3 times. There were doubles by Emory Johnson, Julia Nelson, Meghan Peters, Mylee Friedberg and Tori Dixon who drove in 5 runs and scored 3 runs.

Friedberg pitched the complete game win.

John Kirkpatrick gave up 3 hits and 2 walks in four innings on the mound to earn the win. Kirkpatrick struck out 7 batters before giving way to Jake Riddle who allowed 1 hit against 5 strikeouts in three innings of relief.

The Tigers recorded 9 hits with 2 each by Riddle (1 run scored) and Tate Andrews. Jackson Hill and Gavin Vanover both drove in a run.

Bishop McGuinness 12, Wheatmore 2

Wheatmore hits were by Hunter Goddard (rbi) and Lukas Usterbowski. Shannon McCauley took the loss.

Providence Grove took an 8-6 lead in the top of the seventh only to see Chatham Central score 2 runs and send the game to extra innings. Both teams scored a run in the eighth but CC walked it off in the bottom of the ninth.

Ruby Caudle had 2 doubles for the Patriots with an rbi and a run scored. Carly Lambert had 2 hits with a double, an rbi and 2 runs. Callie Lambert had 2 hits with 2 rbi and 2 runs scored.

The Warriors got 2 hits each by Adalyn Boles (double), Emma Gower (double, 2 runs), Makenna Lawrence (double, 3 rbi, 2 runs) and Brooklyn Boles (2 rbi, run).

A 3-run rally in the seventh inning up short for Wheatmore.

Greyson Atkinson (triple, 2 rbi, run) and Bentley Mills (double, rbi, run) had 2 hits each. Grayson Stewart added a double and scored a run.

Starter Nathan Oxendine took the loss before being lifted for Grayson Carter. The two combined for 7 hits and 4 earned runs.

Asheboro 20, Eastern Guilford 0

Nolan Shaw was 2-for-2 with 2 doubles, 4 rbi and 4 runs scored for Asheboro. There were single hits by Shane Immel (2 runs), Reid Sudduth (2 rbi, 2 runs), Daniel Jaimes (double, rbi, 3 runs), Price Kidd (rbi, 3 runs) and Gavin Allen (rbi, 3 runs).

Sudduth gave up 1 hit and 2 walks in the run-rule win. He struck out 7 batters in three innings of work.

The Patriots had 11 hits but 3 runs in the fourth inning were enough for the win. Caden Waugh (rbi), Grant Underwood (rbi) and Jacob Flinchum (double, run) had 2 hits each.

Chase Collins pitched five innings and got the win. Collins allowed 2 runs (1 er) on 2 hits and 2 walks with 7 strikeouts before giving way to Bryson Arrington who pitched the final two innings.

Trinity led 1-0 after the second inning before putting the game away in the bottom of the sixth.

Seven Bulldogs had hits with 2 each for Peyton Williams (2 runs) and Indiana Hill (rbi, run). Nick Soles drove in 2 runs.

Game 1: Adalyn Boles and Lylah Gower shared pitching duties with Boles giving up 1 hit and striking out 3 batters. Gower recorded 2 strikeouts. Emma Carter had a hit and scored twice for the Warriors.

Game 2: Lylah Gower and Kenzie Hege split time in the run-rule no-hitter. Gower had 2 strikeouts while Hege struck out 3 batters.

Hege and Makenna Lawrence (double) both drove in 3 runs. Gower had 2 hits and 2 rbi and scored 3 times.

Lilah Covington had 2 hits with a double and a home run. Covington drove in 2 and scored 2 Tiger runs. Also with two hits were Kadie Green (rbi), Teanna Bostick (2 rbi, 3 runs) and Elsie Price (rbi).

Randleman senior Brandon Boone has signed with Wingate University for football.

The defensive lineman will join the Wingate Bulldogs in the South Atlantic Conference.

Asheboro's Emma Little is missing her senior soccer season because of surgery but has committed to Pfeiffer University for soccer. The Pfeiffer Falcons are members of the USA South Conference.

March 15, 2026 - NCHSAA BASKETBALL CHAMPIONSHIPS

The North Carolina High School Athletic Association basketball championships concluded Saturday night in Winston-Salem. Of note:

Cherokee girls was the only repeat champion from last year winning their third straight title.

Northern Guilford girls from the TAAC won their third championship (2017, 2018).

Salisbury denied Reidsville a third straight title in the 4A boys championship.

Maiden girls was the only undefeated team finishing 29-0 and champions in 4A.

Hoggard High School had both girl's and boy's teams finish as state runner-up in 8A.

Southern School of Sustainability and Energy boys won in 7A but the girl's team lost the title game.

The Piedmont Athletic Conference released All-Conference honors for the mens and womens winter sports season including basketball, wrestling and swimming.

The Triad Area Athletic Conference has announced All-Conference honors for the winter sports season. These include mens and womens basketball, mens wrestling and mens and womens swimming.

Among those with special honors are Asheboro High School coaches Charles Neighbors and Wes Luther. Neighbors was named TAAC Coach of the Year in Mens Swimming and Luther received the same honor in womens basketball.

Five hits and 4 runs in the bottom of the first inning set the tone for the Bulldogs' win.

Grayson Fauber was 3-for-3 at the plate and drove in 1 run. Walker Parrish had 2 hits with an rbi and 2 runs scored. There were single hits by Brody Little (run), Indiana Hill (2 rbi, run), Cameron Hill (rbi). Cohen Wolfe (2 rbi), Mason Carter (run) and Peyton Williams.

Williams was the winning pitcher going six innings with 2 unearned runs on 4 hits and a walk with 10 strikeouts. Landon Eichen and Fauber pitched in the seventh inning with Fauber recording 2 strikeouts.

Randleman scored their runs in the top of the fifth inning when Kyle Dillow drove in Lincoln Lawson and Jake Riddle with a 2-out single.

Riddle had 2 hits in the game and John Kirkpatrick had one. Riddle went the distance on the mound giving up 4 hits while striking out 6 batters.

Lyric Chriscoe had 2 hits with a home run, double, 3 rbi and 2 runs scored. Alyanna Hunt recorded 2 triples, 4 rbi and 2 runs scored and Izzy Kirkpatrick had a triple and a single and scored.

Daniel Jaimes, Sam Gore and Gavin Allen combined for 13 strikeouts with Jaimes working four shutout-innings for the win.

Allen (run), Gore (2 rbi, run) and Gabriel Jaimes all produced doubles with Shane Immel adding a single, an rbi and a run scored.

Lukas Usterbowski had 2 hits for the Warriors and Gavin McPherson added a single.

With 2 outs in the bottom of the seventh inning, starter Lincoln Coble ran out of pitches (6.2 IP, 3 runs, 7 hits, 3 walks, 7 strikeouts) but Grayson Fauber recorded the final out and preserved the win.

There were 2 hits each by Brody Little (run), Nick Soles and Peyton Williams. Indiana Hill had a single and scored a run.

Seven runs in the fifth inning led to the Wildcats come-from-behind victory.

Carlos Cordero had a double and drove in 2 runs while seven other players hit singles.

Cade McCallum pitched four innings before Maddox Dunn took over and ended up the winning pitcher (3 IP, 2 runs, 4 hits, 4 strikeouts.).

Uwharrie Charter 4, SW Randolph 3

Both teams scored in the first inning with Southwestern Randolph leading 2-1. Pitching and defense from both teams dominated until both scored again in the sixth with Uwharrie Charter ending up in front 4-3.

Jake Hunter gave up 3 unearned runs on 6 hits with 5 strikeouts in seven innings for the win.

Wilson Boswell had a double which drove in Brody Engle for the go-ahead run. There were singles by Jake Hunter (rbi), Ty McAualey (run) and Engle (run).

Grant Kirk had 2 hits for the Cougars with an rbi. Carson Williams doubled and scored. Brady Armfield (run), Elijah Sykes and Logan Weidman each hit singles.

Jerquarius Stanback (AHS '24) has been named Defensive Player of the Year in mens basketball by the Southwestern Athletic Conference. The redshirt freshman at Alabama State University led the SWAC in blocks and was the conference leaders in offensive rebounds and total rebounds.

  Alton Tyre Invitational at Southeast Guilford Relays - LOCAL RESULTS

Wheatmore's boys team was represented in the event by 8 individuals and 4 relay teams while and Randleman had 3 individuals competing in the girl's meet and 9 individuals and 2 relay teams in the boy's event.

The top local finishers included 6th place finishes in the girl's meet by Reagan Henley (1600m run) and Ayla Trotter (discus). The top results for Randleman's boys team included Jazai Cassady 2nd (long jump), Matthew Bowman 2nd (pole vault), Jackson Routh 3rd (110m hurdles) and a pair of 4th place finishes for Izaiah Troxler (discus and shot put). The Tigers 4x200 meter relay team finished in 6th place.

Wheatmore athletes got 4th place finishes by Ayden Fitzgerald (1600m run) and Truman Auman (high jump) and 5th place by the 4x400 meter relay team.

The Eagles scored 7 runs in the first, 8 in the fourth and 3 more in the top of the fifth inning.

Ty McAualey had 3 hits (2 doubles), drove in 3 runs and scored 3 more; Grat Dalton hit a grand slam plus a double and accounted for 6 rbi; and Rusty Wheless had 3 hits with an rbi and 3 runs scored to lead the offense.

Logan Weidman was 3-for-3 at the plate with a double and an rbi and Brady Armfield hit a 2-run home run to lead the offense. Carson Coltrane had 2 hits with single hits by Lucas Connor, Elijah Sykes (2 rbi) and Lane Poole (double).

Armfield was the fourth pitcher used in the Cougars' opener and suffered the loss as South Stanly scored 3 (unearned) runs in the top of the seventh to take the lead.

Union Pines 9, Trinity 2

The Vikings led 8-1 after three innings and wrapped out 13 hits including 2 home runs in the win.Cameron Hill, Indiana Hill and Nick Soles each pitched two innings totaling 1 walk against 3 strikeouts.

The Bulldogs had single hits by Walker Parrish (run), Peyton Williams and Quinn Johnson.

West Davidson 11, Eastern Randolph 1

Eastern Randolph took advantage of 3 walks, a hit batter and an Isaiah Batchelor rbi single to score 3 runs in the bottom of the second inning and tie the game but West Davidson took advantage of Wildcat mistakes for the win. The only other hit for ER was a single by Chance Holdaway.

Holdaway, Maddox Dunn, Landon Albright and Miles Cox shared time on the mound surrendering 11 runs (4 er) on 7 hits and 10 walks with 10 strikeouts. Dunn suffered the loss.

All four Trinity runs came in the fourth inning.

Abigail Rebert singled then scored on McKinleigh Butcher's triple. Butcher scored on a ground-out by Makyrah Coles. Amy Draewert amd Nylah Campbell scored later in the inning thanks to a pair of walks and 3 hit batters.

Butcher, Emily Huneycutt and Rebert saw pitching action in the game.

Callie Lambert hit a 3-run home run and the Patriots got 2 hits each from Adi Johnson (2 rbi, run), Campbell Ziemba (double, rbi, run) and Carly Lambert (double, rbi, 2 runs). Single hits by Baylee Cain and Lara Wiseman (double, 2 runs).
